TouchDown technology will offer softness, prohibit chafing

Tietex International has developed an all-new landing zone material that promises the diaper industry a preferred level of three-dimensional softness.Tietex chairman Martin Wildeman says the company’s new product, TouchDown, is the industry’s only stitchbond nonwoven landing zone. “Our proprietary technology enables TouchDown to deliver exceptional levels of softness, feel, fit and ultimate performance,” he says. “In addition, TouchDown enables printing of high-vibrancy graphics directly on the face of the landing zone without a need for a film substrate and without fear of crocking, thanks to unique intellectual property,.”
Wade Wallace, Tietex president, cites the company’s emphasis on the manufacture of fastening and other related products for the baby diaper and adult incontinence market noting that stitchbonding is an under-appreciated and underutilized method for efficiently blending multiple materials to produce a truly innovative composite. “These are proprietary methods not easily achievable by other web forming processes,” he says.
Wallace explains that Tietex’s patent-pending product composition was key to assuring ease of processing and consistency on high speed production equipment. “Touchdown’s performance is the result of a highly precise loop formation technology,” he says. “What we achieve is a product that’s extremely soft and cloth-like. It is lightweight, compatible with all hooks and is available unprinted or with vibrant, registered graphics.”
Tietex has affirmed that end users will experience the unique characteristics of TouchDown. “We have been determined to make a product that will put an end to the stiffness, roughness and discomfort that commonly lead to chafes, rashes and other skin irritations,” Wade says.
